(RFIDWorld.ca) Texas Instruments announced the creation of Mini RFID Transponders that are paired and encapsulated. The tags have been specially made to be used for animal tagging and asset tracking.

The tags have two, TRPGR30TGC and TRPGP40TGC mini transponders, which cane be used without batteries. This can be useful to embed RFID tags onto smaller objects across a broader range of applications. The transponders come ready-to-use and are completely backwards compatible with Texas Instruments RFID software and readers.

The tags can be used for industrial applications and for asset tracking including tools used in medical settings, for packaging as well as for tracking inventory in any given setting. The second transponder can also be used to keep track of global livestock so that health and safety standards are met with a correct count of inventory of all times including dates and times of when the livestock could have been put into freezers for example. Such tags can be used for fish tracking, livestock tracking as well as for pet identification.

The read range of the tags is up to 20 inches. The durability of the mini transponders is very high and they have a long life expectancy of up to 30 years.
